Should I move to Rome or stay in Charlotte?

Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Pittsburgh and Crime rate is something to consider -Rome sits at 168.7 per 100K. Household incomes average around $58,857 in Rome. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in East area are solid. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much established but now it's tough.
