Been meaning to ask this. I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $117,500, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $117,500 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Ronceverte sits at 119.5 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Tampa about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 30, moved here 9 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in North and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The weather situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Midtown area are underrated. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much established but now it's surprisingly good.
