Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and With a population of 12,206, Rosaryville is a small town. Homes are going for about $457,600 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thanks for reading.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.
No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely tough and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
