Cost of living reality check -Rosebud

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and With a population of 1,077, Rosebud is a small town. Household incomes average around $26,797 in Rosebud. It's a a small town city with about 1,077 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Easy commute
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
- Homelessness issues downtown
Am I wrong here? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The walkability scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cost of living scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in West area are decent. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
