Housing in Roseburg compared to Memphis

So, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The median home value here is around $266,600, which seems about average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I wrong here? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in Fairview for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 24, moved here 8 years ago from Austin. I've lived in Springfield and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The walkability situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for school and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The school system is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
