Moving to Roseburg -what should I know?

Hi all, Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is excellent in most areas.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Sunset area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 1 years. Moved from Phoenix for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Bugs and humidity in summer. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into running, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
