I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $1,240 for rent here. Median household income is $134,697, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 54, moved here 8 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in The Heights and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The cultural scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Tampa it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Diego about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is improving.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
