Hi all, I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Roselle sits at 70.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $318,000, which seems about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Midtown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- The nightlife scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much manageable but now it's excellent.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is tough in most areas.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Meadowbrook area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

I work in engineering here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is tough. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Highland) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
