Honest thoughts on life in Rosemead

Hey everyone, I'm originally from Austin and With a population of 50,340, Rosemead is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $729,600 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,728 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature
- Easy commute
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
Should I be concerned? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Austin about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
