Is Rosemead getting better or worse?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 11.7%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Rosemead sits at 321.2 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What are your go-to spots? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is tough in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 3 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 25, moved here 1 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Highland and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The outdoor recreation situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
