Cost of living reality check -Rosemount

So, Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Dallas about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.
