Hi all, The median home value here is around $218,600, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 12.8%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Rosenberg sits at 380.1 per 100K. Household incomes average around $64,897 in Rosenberg. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Thoughts? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Uptown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The nightlife is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
