Random thought, Crime rate is something to consider — Roseville sits at 182.7 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 4 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Charlotte about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..
