OK so It's a a mid-size city city with about 152K people. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $630,600, which is pretty steep. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Boston about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a writer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
