Not sure if this has been asked before, but Poverty rate is 4.3%, which is pretty low. It's a a mid-size city city with about 152K people. Crime rate is something to consider — Roseville sits at 182.7 per 100K. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Has anyone dealt with this? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Italian places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 24, moved here 3 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in South and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cost of living situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
