Roslyn vs New York -which is better?

So, I'm a 50-year-old writer and Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 15 years. Moved from Raleigh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is solid - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Far from beaches/mountains. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 8 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

it depends on the neighborhood

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Meadowbrook area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely excellent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.
