Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $520,500 on average. The median home value here is around $520,500, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $124,422, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What would you do? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Nashville about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- The community vibe scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 13 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
