I've been here for 7 years and Rent is about $840/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 20.5%, which is higher than I expected. You can expect to pay around $840 for rent here. The median home value here is around $139,200, which is actually reasonable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 45, moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Downtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The safety situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
