Is Rotterdam still affordable?

Curious what people think. We're a young couple and Rent is about $1,212/month for a decent place. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? Cheers.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is tough in most areas.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Korean places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Mexican places. I love the pace of life here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
