Starting a business in Rotterdam?

Anyone else feel this way? Household incomes average around $81,830 in Rotterdam. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Does this match your experience? The city has invested a lot in new development.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (North) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Cedar Grove area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Diego about 14 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is average.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The school system is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
