Not sure if this has been asked before, but Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $113,600 in Rowlett. Homes are going for about $342,400 on average. Median household income is $113,600, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I overthinking this? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Atlanta about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 39, moved here 1 years ago from Portland. I've lived in East and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Baltimore about 7 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

I work in real estate here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
