Worst things about Royal Oak nobody talks about

So, I'm single, late 20s, and Household incomes average around $95,182 in Royal Oak. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective.

I've lived in Eastside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (East) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The community vibe scene is solid

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
