It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Old Town for 9 years. Moved from San Francisco for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Limited entertainment options. And dating scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is solid.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- The dating scene scene is average
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

I'm a physical therapist and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is improving and there's always something going on.
