How is Ruskin for outdoor activities?

Curious what people think. We're a young couple and With a population of 30,074, Ruskin is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 12 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 14 years. Moved from LA for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Property taxes are high. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
