Hi all, Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $1,859 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Worth the trade-offs? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
