Rutland is underrated, change my mind

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Rutland sits at 393.8 per 100K. Median household income is $102,885, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 1,796, Rutland is a small town. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Charlotte about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..
