Longtime lurker here, We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Rye sits at 6.4 per 100K. With a population of 16,410, Rye is a small town. Poverty rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.
