If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Came here for work and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The pet-friendliness is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 30, moved here 4 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Downtown and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The traffic situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in West for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The cultural scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Riverside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Sunset) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Definitely worth checking out..
