Quick question about Rye

Hello, Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Rye sits at 6.4 per 100K. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $237,727 in Rye. The median home value here is around $1,785,400, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $1,785,400 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 25, moved here 13 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Springfield and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Bugs and humidity in summer
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The food scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for singles. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is community vibe. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
