OK so I'm originally from Nashville and Rent is about $1,807/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 29,075 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here?

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 46, moved here 4 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Greenfield and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The weather situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in tech. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
