Is Sacramento getting better or worse?

First post here. Just moved here 16 months ago and Average temperature is around 61°F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider — Sacramento sits at 627.1 per 100K. It's a a major city city with about 525K people. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $484,600, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Good schools
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Boring for young people
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown
Am I wrong here? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in retail. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
