How much do you pay for rent in Saginaw?

I work in insurance and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,700/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? Looking forward to hearing from you all.
