Hey everyone, I work in education and Homes are going for about $270,300 on average. It's a a small town city with about 24,467 people. With a population of 24,467, Saginaw is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Looking forward to hearing from you all. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Houston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is average.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 36, moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in North and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The cost of living situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
