Hello, Just moved here 4 months ago and It's a a small town city with about 14,521 people. Homes are going for about $281,500 on average. Rent is about $1,132/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Salem Lakes sits at 49.1 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Uptown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The safety is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Fairview for 15 years. Moved from LA for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Property taxes are high. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in North for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- The housing market scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

I'm a social worker and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
