Things Salem needs to improve
First post here. Been living here since 2015. Crime rate is something to consider -Salem sits at 248.6 per 100K. Household incomes average around $85,137 in Salem. The median home value here is around $497,400, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I overthinking this? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.
