Things Salem needs to improve

Longtime lurker here, We have two kids and Median household income is $71,900, which feels about average for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Springfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- The safety scene is average

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
