What's it really like living in Salem?

Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider — Salem sits at 381.0 per 100K. The median home value here is around $382,400, which seems about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Any advice would be great. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
