Grocery stores in Salem -recommendations?

Alright, We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $547,000, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $547,000 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience? Thanks in advance! There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Miami about 6 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 13 years. Moved from Phoenix for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is average - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Limited high-paying job options. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 11 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The nightlife is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..
