Moving to Salida with kids -good idea?

Random thought, Homes are going for about $448,700 on average. It's a a small town city with about 14,457 people. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Does this match your experience? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Springfield area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The healthcare scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
