Things Salina needs to improve

First post here. Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $911 for rent here. The median home value here is around $164,500, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $60,624 in Salina. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Would love some local perspective. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. housing market used to be much reasonable but now it's underrated.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Greenfield area are tough. Kids love it here.
