Salinas is underrated, change my mind

The median home value here is around $610,900, which is pretty steep. With a population of 162K, Salinas is a mid-size city. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Any advice would be great. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The housing market is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
