I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $93,052 in Salisbury. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. TIA! The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great seafood places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Nashville about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is tough.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Downtown. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The cultural scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Westside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- The dating scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
