Just moved to Salisbury, any tips?

I'm retired and The food scene here is surprisingly good. Is this normal for Salisbury?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Eastside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in education. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much pricey but now it's improving.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
