Best industries in Sallisaw right now

Hey, I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $861 for rent here. Rent is about $861/month for a decent place. With a population of 8,553, Sallisaw is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 49, moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The outdoor recreation situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**

2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The safety situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The dating scene is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from New York about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The public transit is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
