Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $74,925, which feels about average for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Uptown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The nightlife scene is improving
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Phoenix about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is average.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Good luck with whatever you decide..
