Salt Lake City job market vs Tampa

So, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $495,700, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 6.5%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 52°F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I overthinking this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Chicago about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..
