Why I chose Salt Lake City over bigger cities

Hi all, Homes are going for about $495,700 on average. Median household income is $74,925, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,343/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What do you all think? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 2 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Moved here from New York about 7 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to cost of living but Definitely worth checking out..
