I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Salyersville sits at 292.1 per 100K. With a population of 1,891, Salyersville is a small town. Homes are going for about $96,500 on average. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Should I be concerned? TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
