Top 5 things I love about Sammamish

Hello, I'm a remote worker and It's a a smaller city city with about 66,375 people. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 2 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Baltimore about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 34, moved here 5 years ago from Denver. I've lived in East and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The housing market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Fairview for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The school system scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 10 years. Moved from LA for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is decent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Summers can be brutally hot. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Riverside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
