Affordable areas near San Angelo?

Longtime lurker here, My family moved here when I was a kid. You can expect to pay around $1,121 for rent here. Average temperature is around 69--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $179,300, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
